Why is it the Steelers always get hit with the injury bug. Injuries are capsizing this season

I figured 3-4 games. Not surprised.

No surprise there. I will be surprised if he is back for the 6th game of the season.

Quite frankly, I'm getting tired of him always being injured. We need someone who's going to be on the field. Potential doesn't mean shit if you're always injured.

this will mean that Glass Shandazier will have only played in 11 of his first 21 games to start out his career...

Availability is just as important as talent sometimes.

Mosley is playing in the Ravens game.

Just saying.

Shazier may be more athletic, Mosley is more available.

Ryan Shazier will miss another game with shoulder injury

Posted by Mike Florio on October 10, 2015

Steelers linebacker Ryan Shazier, a first-round pick in 2014 who had a breakout performance in Week Two, will miss his third straight game since then.

The Steelers have listed Shazier as out for Monday night’s game at San Diego, due to a lingering shoulder injury. He fully participated in practice on Thursday and Friday, but Shazier didn’t practice on Saturday.

Also out for the Steelers, as expected, is quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, who is 13 days removed from a knee injury. Questionable is cornerback Cortez Allen, who also has a knee injury.

All other injured Steelers are listed as probable. Not on the report, although reportedly injured, is receiver Martavis Bryant. The Steelers obtained a roster exempt for Bryant that lasts until October 13. Since he’s not on the active roster, he isn’t required to be listed on the injury report.

Who wants to bet this turns into some thing where he comes back for 1 or 2 games and then turns out to need season-ending surgery? Good thing we didn't get rid of Williams or Spence, like some people wanted ...

I would be willing to say that's a good bet...either your scenario or he just never comes back this season...

My money is on a torn rotator cuff that will require surgery real soon.

OK, I had an idea the other day reading about Shazier and his injury bug. If I remember right his size was questioned when he was drafted, but overcame that with his blazing speed. So, Shazier might not be able to handle the wear and tear of the LB position in the NFL, and our secondary (safeties) are sketchy. Why not move Shazier to SS/FS like the Steelers did with Carnell Lake when he came out of UCLA, and start Sean Spence in place of Shazier in the LB spot. Spence isn't as fast, but when he plays he seems to play well. This might enable Shazier to stay healthy and also help our secondary, and enable Spence/Williams to hold down his LB spot.

Just a thought? Might be a crazy one but it might just work.

Could have put this in the Secondary Woes thread also.
