I am not speaking in hyperbole, nor am I making a revelation, when I say that the Pittsburgh Steelers have been plagued with poor tackling on the defensive side of the ball through the first quarter of the 2015 season, an issue that is not only contributing to their defensive struggles it an issue that has been trending upward for several seasons.............

The author means we are below league average in tackling. No kidding. They try to strip the ball and give away yards and games instead.

Hopefully the coaches take notice and get back to basic fundamental tackling. Spearing with the shoulder is a lower percentage of success.

This has been driving me nuts. It's like the first guy either always misses, or allows the runner/receiver to dive forward for extra yards instead of driving him backwards.

The first guy doesn't even slow the ball carrier down for the next 2-3 guys to get there...lol. I'm talking to you Arthur Moats...

I doubt it will happen. IMO, Tomlin seems to prefer splash plays over sound, fundamental football.

This is a far more concerning thing than whatever nonsense the coaches say in the media. If and when this gets corrected is what we should judge this coaching staff on.

WHat if it doesn't get corrected?

Well, Mitchell is probably the best in the league at hitting after giving up the first down. He'll let you know about it too.

:chuckle:

That's a new term now.

Cam Thomas is "Jarvis Jones" solid.

Dri Archer wishes he was "Jarvis Jones" solid...

So instead of saying, "Do me a solid", people can say, "Do me a Jarvis". Of course I would rather use the name Jarvis Jones much in the same way they use the last name of Woody Harrelson's character in Kingpin.

Well. Then we will have an actual tangible thing to rip into the coaching staff for - not an intangible armchair psychology test. Additionally, it will be interesting to see if missed tackles are a team-wide thing, or remain the sole problem of a handful of players - Blake, Moats, etc.
