Steelers (http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/teams/page/PIT/pittsburgh-steelers) quarterback Ben Roethlisberger (http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/players/playerpage/493043/ben-roethlisberger) has made positive strides in his first week since suffering a knee injury in St. Louis, and all signs at this point to him returning in four weeks. Some of the longer projections had him returning in six weeks.
Roethlisberger is off crutches and moving well, according to team sources, and his MCL is on target for a four-week return.

Good...I hope the steelers can win just one game with Vick in the next 2 games....

If we get Ben back at 3-3 we could be in good shape.

It would also be nice if Cincy drops one or two in the meantime.

I got a feeling that he could be back even quicker. Especially if Vick struggles next week.

I could see an Oct 18th return at Heinz vs the Cards knowing the kind of gamer Ben is.

Well watching the Bengals absolutely destroy the Chiefs makes me ok if he isn't back then, they are terrible in every facet of the game today.

I really hope so. Watching this offense with Vick under center is like watching a 90-year-old woman behind the wheel of a Lamborghini. Painful to watch.

Let hope the Bengals drop this one, 14-12 @ the half. Wish we had the Chief's kicker. :chuckle:

Oh oh watch it Fan. The Vick defense league will soon be all over you for your insolence. :chuckle:

gotta blame Todd Haley somewhat for that also...

Oh, believe me, I do. I've been wanting Ben to take full control of the play calling for at least 2 years because it seems like every time he does, the results are games like we had against the 49ers. When he doesn't? We wind up calling draw plays for negative yardage on 3rd-and-goal from the 5 and are constantly settling for FGs instead of TDs either in squeakers we barely wind up pulling out (Rams game) or otherwise very winnable games we just flat-out lose (Patriots on opening night, and even more so the Ravens in Heinz).

Trust me, I am no fan of Todd Haley. For as much flak as Arians got for calling boneheaded shit, Haley is no better in that regard, IMO.

Yeah but will he be playing at the high level he was playing at before he was injured or will he be playing scared and timid and less than 100%?

No doubt the sooner Ben gets back the better and, last week was hard to watch.

Me too, but they are FAR tougher at Arrow than away.

Probably not scared and timid, but there's a good chance he'll be struggling. Three weeks would be an incredibly short time to come back from that injury.

I wish we could've just won the last game with Vick like we should've, and then there would be a lot less urgency. I hope we don't make a mistake rushing him back. As we've seen over the years with other players, this kind of injury is one that gets re-injured ALL THE TIME.

I am sure he will be wearing a brace to help with reinjure it, he will be less mobile, but I imagine there will be more max protect packages in his first few games back.

This scares me, Ben always gets hurts by the Chiefs and especially with their pass rush. 2009 and 2012 were nightmare games. I really want him back but I hope he doesn't rush back before he's well.

Yeah...I'm not looking forward to him coming back too early.

I'd hate for him to rush it back against the Chiefs in Arrowhead. Personally I'd rather take my chances with our surging defense against their anemic offense and get Ben ready for Cinci which is a much more meaningful game. Obviously nobody knows how Vick will perform in the next few weeks, but I'd rather suffer through a stinker in KC than Vick starting against Cinci for what will probably be eventual division supremacy on the line.

I know Ben's a stubborn SOB and a drama queen ( :chuckle: ) so he'll want to go but to me the negatives outweigh the positives in rushing him back. Unfortunately I also don't trust Tomlin to make the right decision in this matter. I just hope it works out for us.

GSK: Hi Ed, what is your best guess as to when Ben returns?

Ed Bouchette: November 2, to begin practice that week.

Which means they are primed for a victory against Tomlin's "solid" game plan. It is the standard...

Bullchitte also predicted the defense would be "historically bad" this season too...
