I personally feel this is an indictment on Jarvis Jones. It isn't on Dupree; everyone knows a rookie isn't counted on much, especially on this team. 92 is 92. Moats is solid, while not a star.

I think it is dawning on them that Chicky offers more promise than JJ. He might actually offer better play RIGHT NOW.

Huey Richardson was bounced after only his first year and he was a first round pick (although it was in Cowher's first year and he had no ego to protect with a Noll draft pick).

Very well could be. I like the theory in the original post that another team was ready to poach him. The Ravens pass rush is garbage without Suggs. Arizona isn't exactly setting the world on fire. Nor San Fran. Etc. Etc.

Trade JJ for any draft pick they are willing to give up.

Sure hope Chick gets some reps.

Grant should be next. Good observation about the Ravens. Story will come out shortly.

I'll take a stab at it and guess Chickillo takes Archer's hat on game day.

Justin Tucker has 15 touchbacks on 16 kickoffs this year. Virtually no chance Archer gets a chance. So why have him active? #Steelers

I don't get the love for Chick. I don't recall hearing or seeing him much in the preseason, other than one gigantic whiff of a tackle in the second to last preseason game, I believe. Maybe not hearing his name was a good thing, I don't know - he just didn't make much of an impression.

A 6th rounder learning the position. He was probably the 2nd or 3rd best OLB during pre-season. He has good fundamentals to build on. At this point he is better vs. the run than he is as a pass rusher. IMO, he has shown more than Jarvis Jones. Haha.

Good. Don't have to worry about him getting poached by some shithead like Belichick anymore then.

Spot on.

As I've averred: Chickillo and Dupree will be the starting tandem at OLB by 2016 (and for quite a few years thereafter).

Don't disagree with The Bark on this one, dead on. Chick wasn't amazing or anything. But agree with Steeldude, Chick seems like he could have a bigger upside than JJ. Possibly, not a given.

Lyons wasnt going to dress so i imagine Chickillo is insurance for Harrison thumb, even though listed as probable. Doesnt hurt to be safe

But it's more fun to pretend it has to do with Jones possibly being benched forever

It would actually be great to think that the coaches are deciding to play their best players, regardless of draft position.

Jones has had 3 games. I can't make an argument that he has had an impressive drive, let alone a quarter. Hope he likes splinters.

Could a case be made that Jones has improved this year over last season...when he played? If it could, it's still not enough to warrant the selection in the draft. At this point, he's forever going to be with the likes of Huey Richardson, Aaron Jones, Troy Edwards, 2008 Draft Class, throw Alonzo Jackson in there...lol.

At least Alonzo wasn't a mid first rounder. He was a 2nd rounder. Huey was a really bad pick though. One of Noll's worst.

What's going to be really funny is in about a week or two when the Steelers release Chickillo and try and sneak him back on the PS. This place is going to go ape shit.
