Greg Gattuso was on the sidelines watching Penn Hills High School play Penn-Trafford and scouting a linebacker, Dan Mason, he was trying to recruit to Pitt.


But Gattuso, the defensive line coach at Pitt, couldn’t help notice a junior defensive lineman for Penn Hills who he said was “wreaking havoc all over the field.” His name was Aaron Donald.


“I fell in love with him on the field,” Gattuso said. “He was unbelievable. I extended an offer as soon as I could. I called [coach Dave] Wannstedt and told him he was a wrecking ball on the field. I’m not afraid of smaller defensive linemen. I loved him at first sight, before even seeing game tape.”..........
