If you missed yesterday’s Pittsburgh Steelers win over the San Francisco 49ers, then you missed a display of firepower rarely seen in the NFL, even in today’s offense-centric game. Pittsburgh dominated the Niners right from the start and jumped out to a 29-3 lead in the first half. In the end they put 42 points […]

They are the best offense with NE and GB.

It will be something to see when Bell returns. And then Bryant. This offense may become nickname worthy.

I'd rather them just be the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Put Bell and Williams in the backfield, then AB, Bryant and Wheaton in patterns. There is no defense in history other than maybe the Steel Curtain that could account for everybody.

Thought they were already referred to as the "Killer Bs" (Ben, Bell, Brown, Bryant)?

I don't like the Killer Bs because it was already done in Miami. I'd prefer something original.

I know we all hate the Patriots, but Buffalo is suppose to have a pretty darn good defense and they dropped 40 on them.

Honestly though I would still give us the edge because we have a better running game, especially when Bell returns.

Taperiots: 34 ppg
Steelers 32 ppg... without Bryant or Bell

Once those two return, thus won't even be a discussion any more.

WHat offense would be better? Thing is, this offense is down TWO starters and their still in a debate about being the best?

At least if we're going to use it to replace Renegade, we ought to go with a rendition more Heavy Metal Cello with a cute chick playing.

They're in the discussion, they have the weapons to be, but you can't make that sort of declaration after one great game and one mediocre game. Yards are great, but scoring matters. This team can and should put up 30+ every week on the scoreboard. So let's see them back up last Sunday with some more outbursts of points. Then we can have this conversation more sensibly.

Greatest offense is the one that wins you the most games. Even 30+ points isn't good enough if your D gives up 31+ points per game. Putting up yards is a fantasy statistic, putting up points tends to win you games, being able to chew the clock at will can win you games, but being able to turn it on to make up for a shaky defense, each and every time, that's what these guys need to be in actual football terms.

In the Steelers current situation I would say that they are not in the discussion for best O just yet -- 21 points at NE and never leading isn't the effort that we need out of them. This week's powerhouse performance turned a lot of heads, but the 49'ers are bad at coming back from behind, we had a lot of help from the D, and frankly we just didn't prove anything yet. If we can put up high 30's consistently, even against good defensive teams-- then we've got lightning in a bottle. Right now we only know that we have lightning. It has to strike when and where we need it to.

It's great to watch, but I look back at the NE game and really feel that we lost that one because the Offensive just wasn't quite able to carry the team to victory through winning a shootout, and that is the current identity of the Steelers. So no, not quite there yet.

Yes, but the Steelers can be in the top 3.Steelers can move the ball against every teams but the key is to end the drive with a TD and not to make mistakes as penalty, bad playcall or turnovers.

Last year, the Steelers had an average of 31.2 points per game in the last 10 games(8-2), too.

Not coincidentally after the arrival of one, Martavis Bryant. 2 more games and the offense should be lights out even more so than it is now. They can't cover everyone that is there right now. This isn't even including Bell being back at that point as well.

This is an 8 headed monster.

Agreed. 30 points a game? I think that's selling this offense short.

The bigger picture is I don't care. End up as the best _team_ - that is all I care about. I care not one bit if they are considered the best O. Just win a ring, and to hell with what is rated where.

Exactly.
They could be 10th in points scored and 25th in points allowed, as long as they get a Lombardi, I couldn't care less.

(That said, they're #1.)
