The Steelers are 0-1, but who didn't figure that was going to be the case after a trip to New England?

Not many, that's for sure, and we know why:

A big stage. Tom Brady. Us-against-the-world mentality. Unveiling the Super Bowl banner. Tom Brady. Suspended Le'Veon Bell and Martavis Bryant. Tom Brady. A new-look defense. Tom Brady. Gillette Stadium. And Tom Brady. All pointed more toward the embarrassed Steelers leaving Foxborough with their tails between their legs rather than a competitive 28-21 loss.

In reality, it was both.

There were many positives that came out of Thursday's loss that should make the Steelers feel good moving forward — especially heading into Sunday's home opener against the San Francisco 49ers at Heinz Field:........

Lats year, the secondary actually did improve thanks to McCain and Blake becoming decent although not great defenders. Starting all that over from square one this time around, though.

I believe the secondary gelled last year, and it improved in December. Then LeBeau stubbornly went with whatever was left of Polamalu and they made Moonball Joe look like a top flight QB in the wildcard round. The secondary showed it can gel last year and if Boykin plays well that should help with improvements. Also communication problems are fixable and they got all season to work on that. Hopefully the Steelers secondary woes are more the byproduct of playing a superior offense

Hard to imagine they can get worse. Don't understand the 100% non use of Boykin. Maybe Butler was overwhelmed, but if that is the case, he has to step it up big time. 1 play, blown assignment, yeah, shit happens. All night long? Lionel Richie may appreciate the shout out, but Butler needs to get it together. Foxboro or not.

Starting over from square one - yep

I just watched the 49ers - I'm afraid Carlos Hyde will run it down our throats if these guys can't tackle

Hyde erupts for 168 yards as Niners win big (http://www.rotoworld.com/player/nfl/9381/carlos-hyde)

San Fran was big and physical all over the field

my favorite part of last night's 49ers-Vikings game was watching Mike Wallace not score a TD...

Gay and Boykin are solid enough. Now toss in Blake and Allen and I don't see why we should be so badly off at CB. Of course, subpar safety play can make the CBs look worse than they are. If S are supposed to have the deep portion of routes, and show up late, well, then our CBs look terrible.

He probably made a yellow jacket for Wallace like OchoStinko's fake HOF jacket. :chuckle:
