The Pittsburgh Steelers have reached their 53-man roster, and how is when they wait on 10 players who were released to sign to their practice squad. See the rumors and signings for the team's 2015 practice squad.

The Pittsburgh Steelers have trimmed their roster to the league-mandated 53 players, and now the team has to wait for their players, and others who might have caught their interest from other teams, to clear waivers before they select the 10 players who will stay within the organization for a year while they wait for another chance to make the team in 2016.

Rumors:

Per NFL Insider Aaron Wilson, the Steelers will be signing OLB Howard Jones to the practice squad. This would be Jones' second year on the team's practice squad.

HoJo went unclaimed. Bucs offered more money to be on their practice squad.

I think HoJo hit his ceiling. So I'm not mad. I would have kept Green over him, which is what ended up happening.

They did not know they were going to release them and they do not know if they will clear waivers. I am sure the Steelers did not know that Todman would clear waivers and sign with them and they had no way of knowing if someone else would claim Lyons.

So, you put things in motion. If Grant and Chick clear and they want them, you release a guy from the PS and add them. No guarantees right now.

Tomlin said roster moves aren't done after final cuts, and they would seek help anywhere they can found it. So they knew someone would eventually be signed and released. They basically admitted that last two guys who maked final 53 are Chickilo and Grant. I agree that they can move anybody from PS if these two clear waivers. For me it doesn't make sense you waive Chickillo who showed some promise and replace him with a raw DE from Div II.

I hope everyone knows that being on the Practice squad means diddly when it comes to "stashing" a player or having ownership.

anyone of our practice squad players can be signed by any other team to their active roster (except the team that we are playing next). And visa versa we can sign any player on any other practice squad to our team.

However, being on the steelers practice squad does afford us more insight into a specific player. And in most cases they are part of our training camp next year. So basically with Chickillo and grant - we get to learn more whether they are good or not and they will probably be in our camp next year to try out for a roster spot. Probably then we will find some new draft pick to get excited and hyped up over and wonder why we haven't cut Chickillo and Grant yet

Chickillo we all knew was a longshot, complete conversion project that was probably ill-advised given his talent and athleticism.

Toussaint to the dark side.

A dark horse candidate to make the Ravens 53 man roster, or a possibility at the practice squad for Baltimore has not happened for the undrafted runningback, Fitzgerald Toussaint. The former starting Michigan Wolverine tailback has officially signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers practice squad. Now is this because he is one of the better backs in the league for the practice squad, or because Toussaint has knowledge of the playbook, and can emulate the styles of former teammates Justin Forsett & Lorenzo Taliaferro?

In truth it's mainly due to Fitzgerald being a decent tailback whom can play many practice squad reps, and help the team he's playing for. If they were truly after scouting playbooks this way every team would take a cut player from the other divisional opponents and exploit them. Maybe a question or two may arise but nothing more.

Fitzgerald finished this final pre-season with 3 games played.

15 carries for 51 yards
6 receptions for 37 yards.

A good practice squad member for the Pittsburgh Steelers, as Fitz was able to be almost a dual threat back both receiving and rushing.
