Tomlin was quoted as saying that Nix was one of the few Steelers who really helped his cause in this last game against the Panthers.

I wanted them to try Nix at OLB. If he showed something promising I would have kicked J Jones off the team. Jones has shown nothing for too long. He can't beat out Harrison or Moats. I am will to bet Chickillo probably understands the defense better than Jones already. Haha

It remains to be seen. It appears Nix is staying. So that's bad news for Archer. I certainly hope Archer is let go.

I barely knew any of the names cut and it will probably remain that way, unless Archer is cut, and that wouldn't be a total shocker, just slightly surprising and not because we think he is good, but just because the staff probably isn't willing to admit drafting him was a mistake yet.

as I said a week or so ago ....

Nix gives you a tenacious blocker at FB ( his best attribute at this point in time ) and will only get better as he is still learning the pos ( was a DT at Kent State )

Johnsons best attribute is a pass catcher in the short to intermediate areas , however we rarely use him in that capacity and almost exclusively use him as a blocker ( not his forte but he is adequate )


if posing them as equals Johnson is the better " over all player " but when looking at the limitations of their roles in this offense Nix is the better fit and has much more upside ..

in a perfect world Nix is kept and Johnson left go , UNLESS they chose to use Johnson in spot duty as a #3 RB and let go of Josh Harris ( who has done next to nothing to help his cause )

then they could keep both Nix and Johnson but IMO would be a mistake several worthy RBs will be cut before it is over

Savvy roster move, only going with 5 CBs. If they need a sixth CB, someone off of the street probably wouldn't be that much worse. Heck, Webb and/or Fogg might still be available. Whereas, I do NOT want to lose Chickillo.

i understand that will johnson was a tight end in college, but he sure hasnt shown it in the NFL. he seems to have dropped quite a few routine passes, someone correct me if im wrong.

love him as a blocker though. i had horrible feeds to watch the game on. would someone discuss what they saw out of Nix?

from what ive read he's been pretty good on special teams, so i assume his likelihood of making it is more predicated on that. if we really did keep both will johnson and nix, along with guys like landry jones....mother of god will i be pissed

Too bad his been laid up with that ankle so far this year. That alone will most likely get him cut.
