View Full Version : Steelers' Roethlisberger says Heyward-Bey will step in for Bryant during suspension

Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger put an end to any speculation about who the No. 3 receiver will be during Martavis Bryant’s four-game suspension.

It’s seven-year veteran Darrius Heyward-Bey, and that’s the end of the story.

“I knew it was coming,” Roethlisberger said of Bryant’s suspension. “We’ve been working with Hey-Bey. He’s playing with a lot of confidence, and we have confidence in him. He’s one of the guys who went down to Georgia with us when we worked out. We built that confidence and trust in each other. I think he’ll step up and be just fine.”

When a reporter asked if rookie third-round pick Sammie Coates was a possibility for a bigger role, Roethlisberger responded: “I think you’ll see a big role for Darrius Heyward-Bey.”

Hey Bey sucks. He simply can't catch very well at all. Can't adjust to the ball. Bryant can. Huge difference. HB is fast, but so what if you can't catch the ball. We will need Wheaton to step up, and he has the ability to.

DHB isn't as bad an option as some think. He is just up and down. Goes from making really nice catches to dropping really easy ones. Not so much different than Bryant in year 1 or how it looks like Sammie Coates will be.

He is apparently the best blocking receiver we have and can still help take the top off the defense which opens up the underneath for Brown, Wheaton and Miller.

Maybe just get him a little stick um for his gloves.
