So you want to be mad at somebody? Forget Michael Vick.

At least he will be with the Steelers Sept. 10, eager to help and ready to go, if necessary, against the New England Patriots in the season’s opening game. Be furious with Martavis Bryant. For that matter, be angry with Le’Veon Bell, too. They won’t be available for their teammates in that first game because of thoughtless, selfish actions that have embarrassed them and the organization.

Bryant was suspended Thursday by the NFL for four games for violating the league’s substance-abuse policy. His suspension follows Bell’s two-game ban because of a marijuana charges last August. Throw in the fact that center Maurkice Pouncey and kicker Shaun Suisham will miss the New England game with injuries, and the Steelers offense won’t be recognizable. Ben Roethlisberger and Antonio Brown are really good, but it’s not fair to expect them to be good enough to make up for those losses. That’s especially true if the Steelers often-maligned defense doesn’t show significant improvement between now and Sept. 10.............

Starkey: Steelers stopping themselves with suspensions

It has been said many times, most recently by Le'Veon Bell and Ben Roethlisberger, that the only team capable of stopping the powerful Steelers offense is the Steelers themselves.

They're doing a pretty good job of it so far.

I believe the term is self-sabotage.

Don't minimize the potential impact of losing Bryant for a quarter of the season. He changed everything last season.

The Steelers were sputtering along at slightly more than 20 points per game when Bryant was activated for Game 7. They averaged more than 30 thereafter. Bryant provided a big-time deep threat (21.1 yards per catch) and a viable red-zone target. He scored eight touchdowns on just 26 catches — and he seemed poised to kick it up a notch this season.

One thing to consider... Bryant did not really become a weapon until week 6 last year. I think out of this it will give Murphy a chance or the younger guys to get some reps. This actually could benefit the Steelers.

That's called a silver lining. It's not going to benefit us. The offense is definitely worse off now. I still cannot believe what a dipshit he is.

My biggest concern is the Rooney family stance on drugs. I don't think we will ever see his contract extended. He is not a franchise running back... Ala Santonio Holmes

Their recent success in drafting WRs will probably hurt him as well...

If he stops smoking and continues to be a good football player, then it will be.

Maybe referring to the development opportunities of Wheaton and the younger guys?

I thought a first-time offender received a less harsh penalty for substance abuse? 4 games?

I agree and, how about Jerome Simpson he just got caught for his third substance abuse then he got 6 games?
