LATROBE -- At least in some circles, Cam Thomas registered a seismic-level disruption last week he took reps at nose tackle with the Steelers' first-team defense.
It wasn't that Thomas received the nod over Dan McCullers that some found so astonishing. A few months ago it would have seemed implausible that Thomas would even be invited back to training camp.
Not after 2014, anyway.
Thomas' first season in Pittsburgh, after signing a two-year, $4 million in free agency following the previous four seasons with San Diego, was -- to put it bluntly -- an unmitigated disaster.
"It was, it was," Thomas said Monday at Saint Vincent. "Pretty much."

I'd have to eat an extra-large helping of crow but I hope it's for real. Maybe Tomlin did know what he was doing after all.

Seeing how we are going to be asking our linemen to shoot the gaps and cause disruption instead of trying to just hold up blockers, maybe Cam Thomas can find a niche in the offensive line rotation and be helpful.
