......take on not wanting the players to speak of being "the best ever" and etc.

My thoughts are I'd like to hear them say things like, "I can guarantee you I will be giving my best effort and we will see where that takes us."

I feel that when players start the "best ever" rhetoric (as AB said), it leads to bad things. Many of you disagreed.

Well how about this? RG III said he thinks he is the "best QB in the NFL" as of yesterday.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/dc-sports-bog/wp/2015/08/17/rgiii-i-feel-like-im-the-best-quarterback-in-the-nfl/

Would you agree that is a moronic thing to say, considering he is 5-15 his last 20 games, and generally has sucked (or been hurt) the last two seasons?

After everything he's been through the last 2 years, he still doesn't realize to add a little humility in there and not making it all about him.

I find it astonishing and am glad Ben would never say these kinds of things. He may think them, and that is fine, but don't speak them out loud, especially when there is zero evidence that it is true.

You know what they say? What goes around comes around, kid.

Flacco and Eli have said before winning their Super Bowl that he was the best QB or he was in the top 5, but they had a good career at that time

For RGIII is ridiculous, since its record is 5-15 since 2013.

In the case of Antonio Brown, he leads the league in yards and catch in the 2 last season, so his comment had credibility

That is my point; I never said AB wasn't THE - or near - being the best WR in the league. RG III saying it is beyond retarded. Flacco merely said he was "an elite" QB, I don't think he said he was the very best.

The issue is Haley said it not Brown. Brown talked about the the quote from Haley. As far as RG3 and out, Subway sucks and so does he.

Even John Harbaugh has said than Flacco was the best QB

Not so much. Like I said, too many microphones and too many media types willing to jump on a story.

I feel like I’m the best quarterback in the league and I have to go out and show that That statement tells me that he does believe he is the best, but he has to go out and show it. If he doesn't show it, he won't be the best.

You know, what do you expect him to say? Brady is the best and I can't even come close.

I don't buy this. As if the two are mutually exclusive. I laugh when people say, "What do you want him to say? That 'I stink and over 20 QBs are better than me?'"

Well, guess what? There is other options than either saying you are the best QB ever or I stink? Try another option.

Instead of saying, "I am the best QB" try saying something like, "I believe in myself. I still think I can be a top QB in the league, but I have to prove it with my actions."

There is no reason to say, "I am the best QB in the NFL" when you have sucked for 2 straight years.

That is moronic. RG III just doesn't get it and probably never will.

He did not say "I am the best QB in the NFL", he said
I feel like I’m the best quarterback in the league and I have to go out and show that
You know, sentences taken out of context and all. In the context of the conversation, I see what he said as nothing too outlandish. If you keep it in context. So if you want to rant, rant on the reporter that was looking to make a name for himself at the expense of RGIII. I don't really care about RGIII, but keep everything in perspective.

He still said, "I feel like I am the best QB in the league." Hard to claim that is out of context. He feels he is the best in the NFL.

And that is pure Ka ka floozle biddy bot.

I feel like I am the best QB in the league AND I have to go out and show it.

Remember "Conjunction function" from schoolhouse rock? You are willing to focus on the first part of the statement, but you HAVE to take the full sentence.

I could easily report:

RGIII says "I have to go out and show it". but I don't think that would cause nearly as much commotion as the part of the sentence you are choosing to focus on.

It doesn't matter if he added, "I have to show it." He still is claiming he is the best QB in the world and that is koo koo for cocoa puffs. No matter what words followed "I feel I am the best QB in this league" it doesn't invalidate that the first assertion is insane.

It’s only the second week of the preseason, but there’s already quarterback trash talk (or at least the interpretation of it) before the Lions take on the Redskins Thursday.
Robert Griffin III sat down with WJLA-TV (http://wjla.com/sports/washington-redskins/watch-rgiii-sits-down-for-a-revealing-end-of-camp-interview) and let fly the words “I feel like I’m the best quarterback in the league,” which has set off a firestorm of debate and social media attention. His full quote with context is more about the mindset that a quarterback has to have to compete in the NFL, but in today’s 140-character world, only pieces have gone viral.

Let's talk about REAL context, shall we? RG III's entire pro career paints a picture of a selfish, delusional person. This quote just further cements that he thinks he is far "greater" than reality dictates.

This guy has been "I, I, I, me, me, me" his entire career. His own teammates haven't liked him up to this point. To put things is actual "context" consider all of his assertions and actions thus far in his career.

And for a guy who has played this bad to claim he is the best QB in the league....wow.

it has more to do with your inability to read than a direct disagreement with what you believe.

Also, Todd Haley spouted off the "Antonio Brown said" whatnot, while RGIII said what he said himself
