Despite all the offseason controversy surrounding Pittsburgh Steelers and quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, one journalist is predicting there will be a seventh championship banner raised at Heinz Field.

Sports Illustrated's Peter King is picking the Steelers to defeat the Green Bay Packers 33-27 to win Super Bowl XLV.

King predicts the Steelers will finish the regular season with an 11-5 record and will be the No. 2 seed in the AFC. He is also predicting division-rival Baltimore to finish 9-7 and will make the playoffs as the No. 6 seed........................

I don't want any of the "experts" picking us to win it all. The Steelers play much better as the underdog or when they have a chip on their shoulder.

This doesnt mean a thing. If anyone takes this seriously they are crazy. IMO the D will play with a chip on their shoulder no matter what because of how they played last year.

I like the underdog role better as well and Stelelers also seem to...... but it seems P.King is only media person where I have read of even giving us a chance of making the playoffs.....

No matter what the media thinks of us, our goal must always be to win the super bowl!

But I admit that I am very worried for the first 4 game because our QB!

Hey he stole my superbowl prediction! But seriously, I hope the players don't make to much of this. They have to take it one game at a time.

WHAT???!!!

I thought the Bengals and the Cowboys were meeting in the Superbowl and they are BOTH gonna win! Aren't we supposed to be afraid of everybody?

I don't mind King much but I also don't make much of this. It's nice to look at and it makes for good water cooler talk but not much else. The Steelers need to earn this on the playing field, not the paper field.

Eh it really doesn't mean anything at all, but I would rather all writers just write us off already and throw us under the table not a fan of being picked for anything good. Underdogs is where the Steelers belong.

His prediction is sure purty to look at and makes us all feel all warm and fuzzy inside, but when all is said and done - predictions are just that.

The focus needs to be on our guys in the B & G working hard, playing even harder and winning one game at a time one week at a time. Period.

Just a bunch of "prognistacators" flipping coins....I can't imagine they care what King says....nor can I imagine they are oblivious to the fact that they have some serious issues they need to work out if they want to make it deep into the playoffs...or even make the playoffs for that matter.

Steelers Notebook: Sports Illustrated pick defies Big Ben logic
Wednesday, September 01, 2010
By Ray Fittipaldo, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette

Ben Roethlisberger's suspension for at least four games and the team's 9-7 record last season has many in the prognostication field leaving the Steelers out of the playoffs again this season. But one prominent NFL reporter is picking the Steelers to raise the Lombardi Trophy for the seventh time.

Sports Illustrated picked the Steelers to win Super Bowl XLV. Senior NFL writer Peter King predicted the Steelers will beat the Green Bay Packers, 33-27, to win the championship

He has not picked the winner since 1995.

I would imagine the other teams had a collective sigh of relief when they realized they were NOT his "chosen one".

Sounds like we are still under the radar.... :chuckle:

Not since 95' ha that's a huge sigh of relieve no one in their right mind would agree with him then I mean after 15 years of wrong you would think he'd give up.

It's just refreshing to know that there is someone out there not buying into the "Ben's suspended, the Steelers are doomed and the defense is too old" mentality.
