It's hard to argue that the Steelers need to find a way to put more pressure on the quarterback to become a successful defense again, and nobody knows that more than coach Mike Tomlin.
Same goes with creating turnovers, and Tomlin also is aware of that. He has entrusted new defensive coordinator Keith Butler with the task of coming up with a fix.
At least part of that solution revealed itself through the first week of training camp. It doesn't have much to do with schemes, techniques and change in philosophy — although those have been all but promised.
Instead, part of the immediate solution has plenty to do with something simple: conditioning.
Tomlin went out of his way throughout organized team activities and minicamp to stress the importance of players being in top shape. Not just football shape, but the best shape of their lives.
