LATROBE, Pa. -- Nearly a decade since suing a McDonald's in suburban Dallas over claims his family found a dead rat in a salad, Pittsburgh Steelers offensive coordinator Todd Haley has been a customer at the fast-food chain.

The 2006 lawsuit filed by Haley and wife Christine sought a reported $1.7 million in damages. The dead rodent was believed to be a juvenile roof rat.

ESPN asked Haley after Thursday's practice whether he'd ever been back to McDonald's. Haley was a Dallas Cowboys passing coordinator at the time of the suit. Since then, he's coached the Kansas City Chiefs for three seasons and coordinated two NFL offenses.

"Now that's out of the blue," Haley said to the question. "I went back sooner than my wife. I don’t know that my wife’s ever gone back, since I wasn't there. It took a long time. Still, makes you think [about the food]."

Did Haley have a good experience?

"Yeah, but I felt guilty because I knew my wife would be mad," Haley said.

How exactly is something gross in your food supposed to be worth $1.7 million? Nobody died, or as far as I know even got sick.
