Well, we know what we were doing wasn't cutting it, so why not make some changes. I think the departure from LeBeau and Troy is gonna make this D a lot better.

I think LeBeau built the defense based on the personnel he had (obviously because we won 2 SB's and had a top rated Def for more years than not). Ike could shut down most #1's in his day. Troy was one of the most dynamic players to play the game and DL used him like it. Clark was good enough to cover for not having Safety help from Troy and our Pass Rush was tops. Different personnel requires a change, this will definately work better as Shark is much better in coverage than Troy was. It also requires Shazier to drop into coverage in the middle of the field, so everyone who has been asking for him to be a Safety now realizes he will be in coverage alot and is fast enough if he reads the run he can fill for just a short gain. I am hoping Cortez and become a legit #1, if so, we will have a good defense this season and the sky is the limit.
