Today is the Steelers’ official training camp opener, a practice at Saint Vincent College at 2:55 p.m., one that’s open to the public. Here on the site, it will be the same drill as yesterday: This post will be updated throughout the day with news, notes, quotes, videos, so please keep refreshing, as we’ll only keep adding.

Update 7:30 a.m.: Steve McLendon spoke with reporters before Saturday’s run test, playing coy about the possible use of defensive linemen as pass rushers this season.

“I don’t know yet,” he said, a tinge of tone in his voice suggesting he has an idea of it. “We will see. We shall see soon.”
He also spoke of the leadership provided by Cam Heyward, and what that means to the line on the field — a group that spent some of the offseason working with famed 3-4 coach Ted Cottrell. (http://steelerswire.usatoday.com/2015/06/22/ted-cottrell-nfl-steelers-defensive-line-workouts-2015/) Heyward returned the favor by shouting at him from the dorm window, “Put a shirt on! No one wants to see that, Steve!”

Safety Alden Darby didn’t exactly show up Antonio Brown, who arrived in a Rolls Royce, but he did glide to the concrete stairs leading into the dorms on a Cy-Board, a vehicle that looks like a combination of a Segway (http://marketingland.com/google-glass-isnt-a-segway-its-gordon-gekkos-phone-42070) and a Hoverboard.
