Funny...that's the play I thought of before reading the article.

It's a shame, really. Woodley was actually pretty damn good...then that happened...and he was never the same.

p.s.
I hit the 6,500-post club. I'll take my cookie now. :chuckle:

It should read, "The Contract that started the decline of Woodley."

Woodley was willfully lazy.

One hamstring and then overcompensating got the ankle. If he put the rehab time in and then didn't get fat and complacent one could sympathize. Woodley, like so many others: JaMarcus Russell, Josh Cribbs, etc. got paid and then never lived up to their contracts.

Woodley had 9 sacks in 8 games before his injury in 2011......

One moment, he is looking like the 2011 DPOY... then, one play later, his career essentially ends.

Hammies take a lot of work and delicate care to recover fully from. If you're going to recover from a hamstring injury, you better be dedicated to the work.

The fact that a hamstring injury is what ultimately did Woodley in just goes to show how lazy he got after his big contract. He just got bigger and even more out of shape.

PEDs. Constant struggles with soft tissue injuries coupled with a known issue keeping his weight down enough to play OLB while maintaining strength?

Most of the signs are there. I don't buy that he got fat and lazy. He was playing like a house of fire prior to the injury even with the big contract. He tried to come back too quickly and I suspect his body was never meant to be at the size/weight he was trying to play and train at.

Either that or he tried them to come back and they caused trouble. Something along either scenario. That's my theory at least.

I thought the vid would show him stuffing Big Macs and pizza in his face. He simply stole that $. What a shame. On another board, some tried to claim he wasn't fat. Right. He was at least 20 lbs over target weight.
