“Swole” and “jacked-up” are not terms one would have used to describe rookie receiver Martavis Bryant last season. Spindly or wispy would have been more appropriate adjectives for the speedy but underdeveloped underclassman who left Clemson after his junior season.
But one year after the Steelers drafted Bryant in the fourth round, Tajh Boyd, Bryant’s former Clemson and current Steelers teammate, correctly identified Bryant’s new look. “Swole” is slang for swollen — as in a new-and-improved physique — and the Steelers hope bigger means a better Bryant in 2015.
Bryant, who left Clemson at 6 feet 4 and 200 pounds, could now pass for an NFL tight end thanks to an intense offseason training regimen that sometimes included three workouts per day........
