Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger is getting some recognition as one of the NFL's very best quarterbacks coming off his strong 2014 season.

Roethlisberger was rated as the NFL's No. 3 quarterback heading into the 2015 season by analyst Elliot Harrison of NFL Media.

"This is the highest I've ever rated Ben Roethlisberger," Harrison said. "He was outstanding last year. He's been able to make streetball-kind of plays that other quarterbacks just can't make. Even though (Tony) Romo aren't runners per se, what running back has better pocket mobility than those two guys?"

Harrison's choices for No. 1 and No. 2 were Aaron Rodgers of Green Bay and Tom Brady of New England. Drew Brees of New Orleans placed fourth.

Amazing what Ben can do with an O Line. This year he should surpass 5,000 yards.

Funny how what was once a weakness is now a strength (the o-line) while the opposite can be said for the defense. We will always have a chance as long as Ben is playing.

Agreed.

If I am not mistaken the Steelers selected offensive linemen with over 50% of their first 2 round picks over a 3-4 year period and it is finally paying big dividends.

Wish they had started few years earlier.

Munchak and DeCastro & Pouncey being healthy.

Now if Ben cheated a little he could be at least tied for #2.

It's coaching, having better talent, and those guys developing and hitting their prime.

I put Ben as every bit as good as Rodgers, if not a little better. Don't get me wrong Rodgers is a good QB I just don't understand the love affair the media has for him.

There is a statistic that shows Brady and Manning both had better QB ratings than Roethlisberger when both blitzed and pressured, but pressure without a blitz shows Brady to be on the bottom of the 3 QBs.

Blitz with pressure:

Brady: 77

Manning: 61.4

BR: 49.5

Pressure with no blitz:

Manning: 101.3(Top NFL QB rating)

BR: 87.4

Brady: 60.4

Lol...he's had to have helped a little bit...I mean from what I recall, there were a lot mor throws downfield than two the sidelines for the infamous bubble screens that we have seen the last umpteen years...no?

Dameshek has Ben as #2, ahead of Brady. Reading the comments from the haters is priceless! That must have been a dream where Ben threw for almost 5,000 yards last year.

I thought a lot of them (that I actually read, at least) were pretty pathetic. To wit:

Wow, I can't believe this dude just called Brady "the ultimate game manager". Brady's numbers are comparable to greats like Dan Marino, and Bucky Brooks has the nerve to call him a game manager. Idiot.

LOL. The Dink and Dunk Deflation King couldn't hold Marino's jock as a passer.

Yea, I have to laugh at the stupidity of them. One guy even insisted that Russell Wilson was a better QB than Ben.

Did you see the guy that kept stating that "Ben raped 4 women" as if it were a fact? And where the Hell did the "4" come from? He was only accused by one crazy bitch that wanted to have his children and a drunk college chick.

I think that in general, today's NFL fan is an idiot fanboy without a rational thought in their head. They read these idiotic posts and start thinking that they're true.

If Ben and the major components on the offense can stay healthy this year, I truly believe Ben will be in the league MVP conversation throughout the season. In so doing I think he'll finally put to rest the notion that he's not among the elite qb's of his era.

I see this comment in a another forum....

When Ben had Antonio Brown and Emmanuel Sanders as his receivers, he was allegedly asking to be traded. Peyton turned Emmanuel Sanders, who as a speed threat you'd think would do better with the stronger armed Ben Roethlisberger, into a 1400 yard pro bowler. Or, to put it another way, made him twice the receiver he was with Big Ben

By your logic, I guess RG3 made Pierre Garcon "twice the receiver" than Peyton Manning did......

steelerdude15

If everyone can stay healthy this year, there isn't any reason why the offense shouldn't be better. I expect Ben to be even sharper this upcoming year with the same crew returning, another year in Haley's playbook, and with more experience under his belt.
