Texas A&M defensive end Polo Manukainiu (http://247sports.com/Player/Polo-Manukainiu-11261) was tragically killed in a car accident while returning to Texas from Utah in July 2013. Also killed in the wreck were his younger brother Lolo Uhatafe and Utah defensive lineman Gaius Vaenuku (http://247sports.com/Player/Gaius-Vaenuku-17626).

There had been rumors after that fact that Pittsburgh Steelers safety Troy Polamalu (http://247sports.com/Player/Troy-Polamalu-75104) had paid for the funeral of Manukainiu and Uhatafe but that story did not make a lot of sense due to the fact the likely future Hall-of-Famer had no ties to the family............

The same Samoan hertiage as the guys that got killed. I'd call that a TIE to their families wouldn't you ?

It's a well known fact that Samoan's take care of their own. Troy being Troy did what Troy does. Awesome human being he is.

Troy has done so much for the Samoan players - - starting at elementary school level both in Samoa and for Samoan players in the mainland US.... He is one of their most admired players in the NFL and he spends time there every year and has donated generously to their programs, both in the academic areas and in the athletic areas... He is one of the organizers of the Polynesian Football HOF which has just opened within the grounds of the Polynesian Cultural Center in Laie, Oahu, Hawaii... And I am sure that he will be inducted there as soon as he is eligible..... He is a true force and an inspiration both as a player and as a man..... Fa`afatai, Troy, for all that you have done, and I am sure that you will continue to make the world a better place - - just 'because'.......
