Sean Spence is thankful to have a full offseason this year.

For the first time since he was drafted by the Steelers, linebacker Sean Spencehttp://www.steelers.com/assets/nflimg/icon-article-link.gif (http://www.steelers.com/team/roster/sean-spence/be819128-6117-419b-8586-f0c71facd389/) has the luxury of a full offseason. No trying to learn the defense in a rush like he had to prior to his rookie year. No rehab, no recovery, like he had to deal with after his first two seasons.

Instead he is attacking the offseason like the rest of his teammates, getting stronger and soon taking part in all activities like the rest of his teammates will be doing.

“I have a full offseason to do that now,” said Spence. “This could be the best offseason. I imagine it’s going to feel good this year. Last offseason I was trying to catch up and make sure my knee was going to be better for OTAs and training camp. Now I am riding along with the pack. I am trying to separate myself with my work ethic and work hard.”

Well if he's doing anything like this with James Harrison, I think he'll be fine: https://www.facebook.com/video.php?v=933605410004925

Can you imagine how hard James Harrison had to work just to get in the NFL? And he still is working just as hard, now that's what being a Pro is all about.

you know with all of the LB's we have now, it makes me wonder. maybe we can play around with the Buddy Ryan 46 defense occasionally? yeah its not ideal in the passing NFL of today but thrown in there once in a while, it could be potent, especially if spence and williams get better at blitzing. and god knows nobody would be expecting it

Its too bad that Timmon's never flashed much at outside. At this point, It would stupid to move your best inside linebacker to a position he has not been very good at. But wow, if that move were practical, suddenly our linebacker situation looks copletely different.

Actually, the LB's have been training together for quite some time now in past few months.

I'm convinced that that man is not human. Lifting that much with a close-in grip is about as impressive as it gets.

Spence is a great story and nobody roots harder for him than I do, but he sucked at getting through the trash last year to go sideline to sideline. He got caught up on WAY too many plays. If he doesn't improve drastically in that respect this year, there's no way he beats out Shazier and I'd rather keep Williams and lose him if it comes to it at the end of the year.
