vote here down to two games both superbowls . I do not agree either was the greatest game ever but I digress ... in the Steelers game note around 50 seconds into the clip Fitz running down the sidelines for 30 + yards out of bounds to come in and try and tackle Harrison on the INT for a TD ( for the life of me still can not figure out why a flag was not thrown on such a obvious penalty ..

SB XIII is still the best game I ever saw.

I agree, but good luck with that. Hell, there are Cards fans (and butthurt Steelers haters) still bitching that Hightower was blocked in the back by Woodley on that play (I guess it was just another anomaly of physics that Hightower landed on his side).

I am a defensive guy so for me SB IX was the greatest ever ( and I believe still a record holding performance )

Super Bowl 43 probably has 2 of the 3 greatest plays in Steelers history. Funny story, I saw the game last night on youtube (except the 2nd quarter, that inexplicably was missing though I saw both Steeler TDs), even though I have seen the TD many times, knew the game well enough to tell what was going to happen next, and saw it on greatest games 4 days earlier, watching the latter half of the 4th quarter and , I still got nervous and felt almost the same way I felt watching the original broadcast (though I didn't start hyperventilating like I did when watching Fitzgerald's go ahead TD the first time). Then when the game ended, I started celebrating like I was watching it for the 1st time. Truly an amazing game. The twists and turns, Harrison's interception, Ben making his mark in the big game, one of the greatest Super Bowl drives ever.

IMHO SB 43 was the best game in my books. It was typical of games we had played throughout the year with Ben leading the team to last minute wins time and time again, and when he didn't the D would come through. I was deflated when Fitz scored the go ahead, but it didn't last long. I looked at the scoreboard and told my son "Look at the clock...we got this we have done it all season long". Then Ben lead the team in typical Ben style down the field for the game winner. Hell James' touchdown run to end the 1/2 will live forever in my mind. I really don't think you could ask for more. That game had more edge of your seat moments than any you could shake a stick at.

I also like the fact that I got to see this with my son. Nothing better to see a Great game with someone who means so much to you.

I love IX. I went to Tulane, and one of the aerial shots of Super Bowl IX shows what later became my freshman dorm.

For me is was Super Bowl 43 like many others mentioned and, we all know most of the time Ben does not get his day in the sun that much. To see him put that drive together was amazing and, atleast that shut up some of his detractors for the moment. After seeing Fitz taking it to the house I was saying there is still time left for Ben to win this game. For all of the Cards fans that still complain about that game all your team had to do was stop that last drive and, they simply could not!

And remember Hines was injured from the AFC championship game so Ben had limited options. People forget that. Luckily Sandoobio rose to the occasion. We didn't have the receiving options that Montana had on his drive in Super Bowl 23 (Rice Taylor Craig Rathman B.Jones)

Another game I've never forgotten was a non-Steelers game back in 1984 between the Bears and the Raiders. EVERY QB for both teams got knocked out during the course of the game - at one point in the 4th quarter, Payton was taking snaps for the Bears and Ray Guy was behind center for the Raiders.

I miss real football...

Just found a Deadspin article about it: http://deadspin.com/what-it-was-like-to-play-in-the-most-violent-nfl-game-e-1478281685

Coulda swore I saw Payton and Guy in at QB during that game, but it was over 30 years ago now. Damn, I'm getting old... :old:

I'm with you on that one and I wasn't even alive. That game had everything in it. Offense, defense, special teams, turnovers, and nearly a comeback by the Cowboys at the end of the game. This is definitely the best game at least in Steelers history.

Not only that, but both teams were STACKED on both sides of the ball. Big plays by both teams all over the place. It really had everything.

Us old timers stick together. The first one was the sweetest. The defense was beyond unbelievable in that game. Poor Fran Tarkenton felt like a rabbit chased by a bunch of hungry dogs the entire game. It was great to watch.

For me it's either XIII or XLIII. All for the same reasons mentioned above. Outside of a Super Bowl, that 1989 wild card game against the Oilers is one of my All-Time favorite games...anyone ever see a place to watch that game?

Seems like the refs did favor the Steelers!

When they were talking about it on NFLN even Charley Casserly was saying the Cards got screwed by the calls. He specifically mentionen the non-clipping call on Harrison's INT return.

http://www.arizonasportsfans.com/vb/showpost.php?p=3158277&postcount=7 (http://www.arizonasportsfans.com/vb/showpost.php?p=3158277&postcount=7)

Did Casserly happen to mention Fitz running out of bounds for about 40 yards before coming back inbounds to tackle Harrison on that same play or Gandy mugging Harrison all fucking night? Yeah, I didn't think so. Gandy should consider himself lucky that he only got tagged for holding 3 times in that game, 'cause every time I saw the dude that evening, he had Harrison in a damn chokehold. :coffee:

As I recall, that was also the same season Harrison didn't draw one holding call until week 7 (http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2008/12/20/steelers-go-six-games-without-a-holding-call/), even though we all watched him get mugged on a weekly basis...
