That's not too bad. Nothing more than a learning moment.

It's not a drug charge. It reads like he didn't even do anything slightly unruly.

Look, I don't like it. But in the grand scheme of things, not a big deal, and I'm not going to be mad about it unless it turns out he was in a riot, or beating a woman, or something.

Walking around drunk near the bars? You don't say!

Public intoxication....that's an ordinance violation in most places. Who cares.

How many years will pass until people start saying, "Oh, it's just 2nd degree murder. That's normal for sports professionals"?

Well, maybe if a ton of people committed second-degree murder every random weekend without hurting anyone, they would say that.

Right...because being drunk as you leave a bar.... equates to 2nd degree murder.

NFL does not mix with alcohol. If Blake was cutting lawns or waiting tables that would be acceptable behavior. He plays for one of the elite franchises in all of sports. Wake the f up dude.

Meh...big deal...in the sarcastic kinda way. I'm sure the NFL will make sure it's a "big deal" in the "real life" kinda way.

How old is he?

Gronk is still drunk from winning the Super Bowl...hell he and his whole family are out drunk night after night...yet they don't get "pinched"...lol.

I'm 54. Never been arrested so much as once in my life. But at the age Blake is now, on more than one occasion I could have been arrested for public drunkenness Maybe it's because I was lucky? Maybe I was just a little bit smarter than Antwon when I was in that state? Or maybe it's because I'm white? :noidea:

All I know is I haven't done it in at least 25 years, (coincidentally or not I'll be married 25 years in July  So sorry, I'm not killing the guy for this transgression. Notice I didn't say crime. Because it's not.

No DUI, no fighting, no beating up women, no sexual assault, no one got killed = a big, fat YAWN.

I can't tell you how many times I could have been cited for public drunkenness in college. Or by simply walking from my table to the bathroom at a local bar I go to every so often (easiest path takes you outside).

Shoulda stayed in western Pennsylvania, Antwon, where you could have fun drinkin' in the streets during fireman's conventions, parades, etc.

At least he wasn't drinking and driving. Or beating up defenseless paper towel dispensers.

meh its nothing that could not happen to any of us ... have a few to many walk out to hail a cab or wait on someone to drive up from the parking lot 2 blocks away and stagger a little as a cop drives by and your going to be cuffed and stuffed and cited for public intox ...

do I want this to happen of course not but unless there is far more to the story this is a whole lot about nothing

If he wasn't behind the wheel or committing assault while drunk, I really don't care. But damn, he must have been SMASHED for the cops to pick him up while he was just walking around. :alcoholic:

Yea....we generally don't cite for public intoxication unless they don't have the facilities to make it home and/or they are just being a nuisance. If it was more than that they get slapped with a disorderly conduct. "Public intoxication" is just one of those cover all charges to stop a problem before it starts.

This falls into the category of "Dude, you're an NFL player, be smart, but at least there's no harm done."

These guys have to realize they are targets, by the press if by no one else. So you're better off doing it at home or at a friends house and then staying there all night.

Nonetheless, it's also nothing to write home about.

A spokesperson for the Steelers said the team is aware of the report.

“We are aware of the report and are still gathering information. We will have no further comment at this time,” said Steelers public relations spokesperson Burt Lauten.

I for one do not understand why you need to go to a bar and get so drunk that others really notice and give yourself a chance of getting arrested. While I don't agree with it and think being more of a social drinker in public instead of getting drunk in public is more appropriate this isn't a very big deal.

It's much better then a DUI. Maybe getting arrested kept him from getting behind the wheel which would have been a big deal.
