I rarely ever post here let alone start a new thread, but a buddy of mine is (gross as it sounds) a Seattle Cryhawk fan. He watches the Steelers cause I talk about them so much. He and I both agree that Byron Maxwell would thrive in Black and Gold and, according to him they are almost certain to trade him. Any hope, chance or prayer that this could happen? He could change our secondary day one and for years to come.

He's on the top of my "wish-list".

Sign and trade Mike Wallace.

I'm so leery of FA this year after the Mike Mitchell debacle. Still hoping this will be a better year for him and that injury is what held him back last year. I'm not familiar with Maxwell, since I haven't watched many other games besides Steelers games for a couple of years. I'll look up some tape on him.

Maxwell is a free agent so they won't be trading him.

He's a big, physical CB who I'd love to have.

I'm not going to get my hopes up though because he's the #1 FA CB, meaning that someone will give him a big contract.

The team is clearly making room for something with restructures on Mitchell and Pouncey. He's going to be signed by someone - why not us? I'll even go as far as to say - sign this guy and draft PJ Williams. Our tandem can be Gay and Maxwell until Williams or Allen can take it from them. Close the book on our CB problem for the next several years.

I'm a big believer in the idea of getting away with a lesser secondary if the D-line is stout, but the secondary still has to be at least "not terrible". Plus I feel like having that set of CBs will make our safeties better.

Still not enough cap room. Rookie class is going to cost about 5 million. Internal FA's are going to cost 3-4. So that means we still need to see Ben resigned, multiple cuts, and likely 3-4 more restructures before there is the scale of cap room needed to go after a top tier FA corner.

What kind of contract do you think top tier FA cornerbacks will command this offseason?

7 million plus per year.
