PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – Dick LeBeau received a big honor from Pittsburgh City Council Tuesday morning.

City Council officially announced this will be “Dick LeBeau Month” in Pittsburgh.

LeBeau addressed the council following the announcement and said it was, “more than I deserve.”

Dick LeBeau is leaving the Steelers after 56 seasons in the NFL, including a dozen here as defensive coordinator.

Ex-Steelers defensive coordinator LeBeau says 'goodbye' to Pittsburgh

Former Steelers defensive coordinator Dick LeBeau said farewell to Pittsburgh on Tuesday with a paraphrased stanza from the “Night Before Christmas” during a City Council ceremony.

Council honored the Ohio native, who resigned from the Steelers last month (http://triblive.com/sports/steelers/7537897-74/defensive-lebeau-steelers#axzz3Qb4uJkOQ), by presenting him with a key to the city and declaring February as Dick LeBeau month.

“A lot of times I just can't see the good part of goodbye, so I'm not going to say that,” LeBeau said, surrounded by family and friends. “I'm going to paraphrase the last line of a poem that I've come to be associated with a little bit around this city...: ‘But I heard him, ere he drove out of sight, God bless you all people of Pittsburgh, and to all good night.'”

Good things happen to good people and coach LeBeau is the best. Congrats coach wherever you go. I'll be rooting for you and probably be bitching next year that you aren't coaching our team.

Are you saying the Steelers should have kept LeBeau?

Want an example of a "fan" running a football team? Look at the Redskins...

Great timing. LeBeau was in Pittsburgh for 12 years and they didn't do anything. The day he leaves they declare it a holiday. Did that come out right?
