PITTSBUGH (93-7 The FAN) – Steelers cornerback Ike Taylor talked with Joe Starkey of Starkey and Mueller about his future with the Steelers, Keith Butler replacing Dick LeBeau and whether or not he thinks Troy Polamalu will be back next year.

Taylor talked about LeBeau leaving the Steelers calling it “a sad day for everybody,” adding that he “walked on water without being on water.”

When it comes to LeBeau’s replacement in linebackers coach Keith Butler, LeBeau had nothing but good things to say about the new defensive coordinator.

“We knew it was a long time coming,” Taylor said. “Coach Butler is like a big brother to a lot of the guys, like we all come up together. There is only one Coach LeBeau so ain’t nobody going to be Coach LeBeau. I ain’t even trying to compare nobody to Coach LeBeau…As far as like respect level, he’s like one of the disciples under Coach LeBeau.”

Taylor also talked about his own future with the Steelers and was asked if the team had told him yet whether or not they wanted him back.

“They haven’t told me, but I honestly don’t think so,” Taylor said. “That doesn’t mean that Ike couldn’t see himself continuing his career with another team. “My cleats are always ready to put on. I’ve been fortunate enough with Pittsburgh. Just because Pittsburgh may not feel like I can do it doesn’t feel like somebody else might think I can do it.”

He needs to hang it up before he ruins the minimum legacy he achieved.

If Ike had ever learned how to catch the ball he would have been a multi time Pro Bowl selection. He was a very good player on some very good teams. No shame in his career or legacy.

He was as close to "shut down" as you could get at one point. It's a shame he couldn't catch...he'd gotten a ton more recognition with a couple extra INTs in his pocket.

Ike was a Great player and even the fact that he couldn't catch may have played to our benefit as it made him a bit more affordable.

Ike used to always come up big against the Bengals. He gave Ocho Stinko fits, and he played some pretty solid games against A.J Green in his first couple years in the league.

I think we all saw this coming. At one point, Ike was a great corner. He could cover the best receivers. Supposedly, he might be a scout for the team.

Up early and watching replay of XLIII and Taylor was a liability in this game. He was playing way off and when he came in close Fitzgerald scored. He also got hit with a 15-yd unsportsmanlike.

Sorry, I just never was a big believer in Ike. In fact, all of our CBs scared the hell out of me for year's now. None can intercept or know the theory of how to do it !
