Washington has already interviewed experienced coordinator Wade Phillips (http://www.washingtonpost.com/sports/redskins/redskins-interview-wade-phillips-for-vacant-defensive-coordinator-position/2015/01/08/379c1328-9778-11e4-8005-1924ede3e54a_story.html), Chargers linebackers coach Joe Barry and 49ers defensive backs coach Ed Donatell. The Redskins were scheduled to interview Eric Mangini (http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/football-insider/wp/2015/01/09/redskins-to-interview-eric-mangini-for-defensive-coordinator-position/) on Monday.

One of the beautiful parts of the interview process, as Bruce Allen noted during last year’s search for a head coach, is the informational aspect. A candidate might not be seriously considered, but if a team learns something valuable in the course of the interview, the experience was worth the effort. Bruce Allen said in a Friday interview with ESPN 980 (http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/dc-sports-bog/wp/2015/01/12/redskins-president-bruce-allen-was-oblivious-to-the-reaction-to-his-press-conference/) that the team had “two or three more” interviews scheduled with prospective coordinators.
