View Full Version : Steelers set to work out CFL OLB Shawn Lemon

This certainly wouldn't be the first CFL player to try out with the Steelers (http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/teams/pittsburgh-steelers). Both native Canadians and American transplants who found themselves playing north of the border have come in for tryouts, without having merited any results.
Different times call for different circumstances. With a new defensive coordinator set to be named (linebacker coach Keith Butler is all but assured to get the job), the Steelers must find ways to improve a pass rush that can only be fairly described as mediocre over the last four seasons.
Will Akron product - the alma mater of James Harrison (http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/players/1601/james-harrison) - Lemon be a guy...

Harrison played at Kent State, both MAC schools, though.

Akron as in his High school and place of birth ...Kent State as a Collegiate

his highlight reel from the past season looks like a huge joke. almost all of his sacks and tackles for losses on the BTSC film reel were on completely open lanes or on spin moves. not going to work in the NFL. doesnt use a good bull rush anywhere on that tape, seems to hate contact. albeit this is just his highlight reel, but the fact that his highlight reel is so underwhelming makes me want to toss this aside for now unless he learns how to play linebacker in the NFL quickly

That's digging deep for relevancy if you're right, lol. Never mind, the error was pointed out in the article's message board and the author noted he changed the whole thing to say Arkon is in the same conference as Harrison played.

A lot of product tie-ins available - which got me wondering why opposing teams didn't chant "Losing feeling in my toes" or, at the very least, "Nationwide is on your side" whenever Peyton Manning got sacked recently.

Born in Akron, Ohio (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Akron,_Ohio), Harrison was the youngest of 14 children to James Sr. (a chemical truck driver (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Truck_driver)) and Mildred

Look, I'm not playing the "I'm right, you're wrong game," or show you up, but again, the article's author is taking a painstaking leap at making some relevant association to Harrison and corrected himself. But since you pointed out the fact that Harrison grew up in Akron, I'd like to point out you seem to be really grasping for straws to prove yourself right. What? Is there only ONE high school in Akron? Is it known as "Akron" high school? Harrison went to Coventry High School.

Oh, and by the way:

was just pointing out that he was born in Akron ( like I stated originally ) nothing more nothing less and provided a link to show it ...

anything more being made of it is you doing so not me ...

not attempting to start a forum war over it ...

you said
That's digging deep for relevancy if you're right, lol.

the lol on the end made it sound as highly doubtful of what I stated ....

so I showed he was in fact Born in Akron

end of story for me

Nope, it had nothing to do with you - again, all toward the author's article. The author was digging deep trying to make some meaningful association to Harrison when there was none to be made. You were correct in what you said and I wasn't disputing it, but it still has no relevancy whatsoever to Lemon and the author has since acknowledged this.

The best the author can do is say they both played for MAC schools, which is still totally irrelevant.
