Trib Total Media's Mark Kaboly breaks down five storylines facing the Steelers this offseason.

1. Is it an end of an era?
Brett Keisel, James Harrison, Ike Taylor and Troy Polamalu are the only ones who remain from a defense that won two Super Bowls in three years. All four likely won't be back. Keisel and Harrison were brought back out of necessity this season to fill in for underachieving youngsters, while Taylor lost his job in December and Polamalu struggled enough down the stretch that there was debate about playing Will Allen instead of him. The Steelers have young players who can/have stepped in with defensive end Stephon Tuitt, linebacker Jarvis Jones and safety Shamarko Thomas, making the decision a little easier.

2. Can Cortez Allen rebound?
The Steelers handed Cortez Allen $25 million the night before the season opener with the thought he would be their shut-down corner. You could say it didn't work out. Allen was so bad that he was pulled for Brice McCain and then Antwon Blake.........

expect better from a Burgh beat writer ... Harrisons return had nothing to do with under achieving youngsters and everything to do with Jones going down ( at the time Jones got hurt he had 2 sacks in 2 1/2 games ) we had a void and nobody to fill it without killing all the depth of the unit .. point still stands but its setup is highly inaccurate
