Up 41-35 with just over one minute to play in the Cotton Bowl on Thursday, Baylor attempted a field goal that would have given the Bears a two-score lead over Michigan State.
That didn't go so well.
First, the kick was blocked by RJ Williamson. Then, kicker Chris Callahan was leveled by Michigan State wide receiver/defensive back Tony Lippett blocking for the return - which the Spartans brought back 36 yards to the Baylor 45 yard line.
Michigan State quarterback Connor Cook then went to work, converting a 4th-and-10 with a 17-yard pass to Lippett to keep the drive alive. On third-and-goal from the 10-yard-line, Cook hit Keith Mumphery for the tying touchdown. The extra point was true, the kicker remained on his feet and the Spartans had the 42-41 lead.
The Spartans sacked prolific Bears QB Bryce Petty on first and second down (the drive began with 17 seconds left), and Riley Bullough picked off Petty's final attempt to seal the win.
