The Kansas City Chiefs were supposed to be the team with the potential difference-making pass rush, but it turned out to be the Steelers who were the dominant defense in that respect.

During the 20-12 victory over the Chiefs at Heinz Field that clinched the Steelers’ first playoff spot since 2011, the defense sacked Alex Smith six times for a combined 29 yards in losses. Jason Worilds (http://www.steelers.com/team/roster/jason-worilds/5c613eee-74dc-496d-85ff-b2dfb90b0b14/) would end up leading the Steelers with two, while James Harrison (http://www.steelers.com/team/roster/james-harrison/f955db12-de79-47a3-9c61-d50c2583d49b/) and Cam Heyward each contributed 1.5.

But in addition to his sacks, Harrison had seven tackles, including two for loss on running plays, one of which was a fourth-and-short in which he combined with Lawrence Timmons (http://www.steelers.com/team/roster/lawrence-timmons/afc86dd7-633e-4e37-a4da-5f089a96b666/) and Will Allen (http://www.steelers.com/team/roster/will-allen/12e7d31e-6126-4194-b4cf-71d15fa45f6b/) to stop Jamaal Charles short of the line to gain. And on top of what he contributed on the field, Harrison also provided a veteran presence that’s always helpful in games with high stakes.

Harrison is the Steelers Digest Player of the Week.

Also considered were Worilds, who had three tackles in addition to his sacks; Heyward, who had four tackles and three hits on the quarterback in addition to his sacks; Timmons, who led the team with 13 tackles, including being part of the one for loss on the Charles’ run on fourth down; Ben Roethlisberger (http://www.steelers.com/team/roster/ben-roethlisberger/54dda34e-9e43-4c57-9397-1143ddced5d6/), who completed 18-of-25 for 220 yards, with one touchdown, no interceptions, and a passer rating of 112.1; Antonio Brown (http://www.steelers.com/team/roster/antonio-brown/859114e9-d70b-477b-8eaf-6f34bb1ffc03/), who had seven catches for 72 yards; Heath Miller (http://www.steelers.com/team/roster/heath-miller/ada7ab1b-9acd-421a-bed0-79ccc4542630/), who had seven catches for 68 yards; Stephon Tuitt (http://www.steelers.com/team/roster/stephon-tuitt/0ecd4248-6238-4077-b44b-1f4b13d91bac/), who had three tackles, one sack, and one forced fumble; and Vince Williams (http://www.steelers.com/team/roster/vince-williams/1a43b14f-2f77-46b7-af1f-7eacffb085bf/), who had three tackles on defense and a fumble recovery, plus another three tackles on special teams.

Wish he had another 4-5 years in the tank to lead this defense through this rebuild. Hope some of his work ethic is rubbing off on Cam and the boys.

Manbreast? WTF is on your mind? :nervous:

Looks like his work ethic is rubbing off on some of the guys...which is a good thing. I'd have him, at the very least, in training camp next season...if he'd come back for another.

How nice would it be for Harrison to be MVP in the SB? Would Good L be man enough to present him the trophy?

The two weeks off gave Harrison some energy. He looked to be slowing down there for a little while. Hopefully they can give him some rest here and there before the playoffs.

Harrison already gave Goodell the middle finger by being DPOY 6 years ago. Nothing would be more satisfying than watching Ben win Superbowl MVP and Goodell having to give it to him after that BS suspension
