Remember how the Steelers planned to turn the no-huddle offense into perhaps their primary mode of transportation in 2014?

They did for a while, too. Right out of the chute, they used the no-huddle in four of six series in the first half of their opener against Cleveland and scored on each — three touchdowns and a field goal.

They continued to deploy it through their fourth game of the season against Tampa Bay, which they lost, 27-24. Since then, the no-huddle nearly has gone the way of running back LeGarrette Blount from the Steelers offense. They pull it out on occasion, but, unless it’s at the end of a half or game, they hardly ever devote an entire series to it.

And who can argue? The Steelers today have the No. 1 offense in the NFL in yards gained, No. 2 in passing yards, No. 10 in rushing yards and have won six of their past eight games.

They have put themselves in position not only to clinch a playoff spot with a victory Sunday but also to win the AFC North if they win their final two games.

Yet the no-huddle offense could return this week. Facing a Kansas City Chiefs defense that is tied for the sixth-most sacks in the NFL, it is one weapon the Steelers have at their disposal to slow that down.
