The Steelers are 7-5 heading into December. They are coming off a heartbreaking home loss that put a damper on their playoff aspirations.
Now they might have to win their final four games — two are on the road — to have any chance of catching front-running Cincinnati in the AFC North.

Sound familiar?

The Steelers faced an almost identical dilemma in 2005 and made the impossible look simple.

“Wow, that was a fun run,” said Steelers safety Troy Polamalu, one of seven players (Ben Roethlisberger, Heath Miller, Ike Taylor, Brett Keisel, James Harrison, Greg Warren) left from the 2005 team that went on to win the team's first Super Bowl in more than 25 years. “Our formula just came together.”

That formula was simple: Win one for Jerome Bettis.........

Back then they had a defense, a better OL and a HC that was not full of crap.

They won't do it, not with this defense. All I am hoping for at this point is a playoff berth and hopefully a halfway respectful showing once they get there.

I just want to grind the smug, arrogant, Bengals fans faces in the mud today.

That is all.

Every time Bengals fan made a comment to me this week, I kept saying "Bad Andy, Bad Andy!"

Seeing how the Bengals are an over 500 team and don't have a loosing record ,we should win this one with a minimal amount of effort .Thats seems to be how we roll. Maybe make a run for the "beard".

That team had much more talent and the intangible "Heart" . I don't see that in this team. Like all the parts are not working together, too late in the season for players to be on different pages. I almost think Tomlin has lost this team a bit, at least in that they are not listening to the coaches or that the coaches suck. IDK

I think that's certainly part of the problem. The thing is the way you fix it is something the Rooneys won't want to do...

Back in 2005, the O-line was pretty stout, Troy Polamalu was playing at an All-pro level, and Ike Taylor along with the rest of the defense was playing at a high level.

Similar scenarios, two totally different teams. It's not gonna happen this time. This team is way too unpredictable.

This team doesn't have the defense. That 2005 team's defense wasn't even great but it was good enough to make stops when it needed to. ALso, they jumped out ahead of every game in the playoffs. This team starts off every game slow. Can't do that in the playoffs

Does anyone see the Steelers winning in Denver and New England with Mike Mitchell and Ike Taylor in our secondary?

We only lose to bad teams. There won't be any bad teams in the AFC playoffs.
