How this happened is easy to nail down. Why it continues to happen, well, that’s what is equal parts confounding and infuriating.

This time it was going to be different. The Steelers were going to shed this self-destructive habit of losing to teams with bad records, and therefore stop giving back the ground they had gained in the standings. It was going to end here, with this trip to face the 1-8 New York Jets because they talked openly about ending it, and the first step toward real change is admitting there is a problem.

It was supposed to be different, but it wasn’t. The 6-3 Steelers lost to the 1-8 Jets, and throughout the three hours it took for that to become official it was never easy to which team was the contender, and then when it was over the overriding feeling was that neither one was.

The final score was 20-13, and that does a disservice to the actual back-and-forth at MetLife Stadium because it implies the game was close to being evenly contested. It was not.....

the Bold ... Tomlin and Co need to learn TALK IS CHEAP and sit down and look for real tangible answers such as game planning to attack the oppositions weaknesses instead of trying to impose your will on them in areas they are actually good at ....

The Jets had a total of 8 combined starts with their starting Corners a mash unit that 1 guy came from the practice squad a month ago and just 2 weeks ago the other corner was unemployed and walking the streets on Sundays ...

so the Steelers instead of game planning to go deep early and often and testing the Jets weakest link on Def they played to the jets Def strength the front 7 with the running game and screen game , a recipe for disaster more often than not and it proved to be just that a disaster ...

couple turning the ball over of multitude of times ( one in the short passing game where 190 pound WR gets pummeled by 300 pound men at the catch point ) then pressing later to make a play to try and help offset the point differential due to bad game planning and mistakes .....

a bad throw causing yet another with an off target ball getting tipped ....

but it all starts with proper game planning if you get that part right most of the rest never happens , call it cause and effect if you will but players can only do what the coaching staff lays out for them and they just didnt do their jobs ( again ) when will they learn accountability is everything

It's crazy. Why can everyone see the terrible game plan except those that get paid to come up with the game plan. Is it just plain arrogance of the coaches?

Well, Ben has stated that Haley has put his ego aside. Haley feels smarter. He said so himself. Personally, I think all the heat is escaping out of his head because he now refuses to wear a hat. Maybe it's all about the gel. :noidea:

Well Tomlin wasn't going to be out done by Haley. He pissed on his own fire hydrant and puts James Harrison in on 1st and goal as a RB! Ben didn't look at any other receiver, which is unlike Ben. It was like he was told to throw it to Harrison. Meanwhile Spaeth was on the left side of the field with no one within 15 feet of him waving his arms in the air.

that we do not have the answer to

It's everybody reading their own press coverage from the previous two games and believing they just need to make a personal appearance and forgetting about all the hard work that goes into victories.

Unfortunately, that seems to be a viable explanation.
