I did the research. Here are the bad losses under Tomlin's tenure.

2009 - Kansas City (4-12), Oakland (5-11), Cleveland (5-11)
2012 - Oakland (4-12), Tennessee (6-10), Cleveland (5-11)
2013 - Minnesota (5-11), Oakland (4-12)
2014 - Tampa Bay (1-8), New York Jets (2-8)

This is ridiculous losing to these teams. These bad losses are the only reason we miss the playoffs.

Tennessee will probably be on that list next week.

Tomlin needs to be fired. Missed the 2007 loss to the 4-12 jets

What are other teams (considered good I guess) records against bad teams in the same time span? That is the only true measuring stick. A comparison against other NFL teams performance, not the high and somewhat arbitrary expectations we have as fans.

They are only 11-8 against teams with losing records during the past three seasons, including an 8-7 mark that contributed mightily to the past two winters without playoff football for Steeler Nation.

Didn't always used to be the Steelers struggled to put away the poorest of opponents. Coach Mike Tomlin's teams were 29-7 against squads with losing records over his first five seasons, including undefeated marks in his second, fourth and fifth campaigns. Tomlin's two Super Bowl teams went a combined 13-0 against teams that finished under .500, and his four playoff teams went 26-3.

After today, Tomlin is 11-9 against teams w/losing records in the past 3 seasons.

Well, that makes sense, since we've been a .500 team ourselves.

Games like today, and the Tampa game, are just inexcusable, though. This was a shitty football team we played, and not only did we lose, we got destroyed. Amazingly, we were even still in the game until very late in the going - I mean, by all rights we could've been down 35-0, but the Jets were just breaking their necks to avoid putting the game away - and still, all we came up with were squandered opportunities.

Some of the shit we were doing - I just cannot believe that was the game plan. Did we completely forget how to run basic plays? Is Haley retarded? It is impossible to have any idea what to make of this team, and not in a good way. 10 games into the season and we're still on some yoga farm trying to find ourselves. That was on full display today. Total bullshit.

Why was James Harrison playing RB? Did Blount or Bell get hurt?

Didn't see the whole game, but 4 turnovers with 1or 2 in the redzone ought to bring any gameplan to a screeching halt.

QFT.

Finally, someone posts something using common sense instead of overreacting based on emotion.

I cannot for the life of me understand why this team plays so shitty against inferior opponents. I'm fully expecting a loss against the Titans next week.

Been snooping around some other Steeler forums. It's funny how many of them want to give Tomlin a pass and say "it's all on the players!"

What did Tomlin's record against bad teams fall to after today? Time to stop giving the guy a pass.

Buchette said we are 0-7 against teams that were a combined 9-36, so I'm guess the rest of the league faired pretty good against them. This team is total cramp against subpar competition, no excuse

That must be 2013 - now. But, the problem goes back to 2009.

Tennessee will probably be on that list next week.

I tend to lean that way as well. However, I thought they'd squeak out a win against the Jets and then fail in Tennessee the way they did today...so hopefully I just had the two games backwards!!

I disagree with those who say that yesterday was an upset.

Since several years, when we think the steelers are going playing well, they are horrible when you think the Steelers are going to be terrible, the Steelers are going to play well.

I'm tired of it
