The violent chemistry between the Steelers and the Baltimore Ravens changes only glacially, if at all, with many of the significant alterations becoming visible only after years of embittered appointments.

At first blush, the evident difference for the great rivalry that resumes tonight at Heinz Field appears held over from their first meeting seven weeks ago.

Ravens running back Justin Forsett, Mike Tomlin noted this week, "runs downhill."

Former Ravens running back Ray Rice on the other hand, now disgraced and deposed, runs uphill against the relevant authorities, straining to see if there's a place in the game for an infamous batterer.

I like his chances.

But look harder up and down this Baltimore roster and you'll see an entire new platoon of talented players the Steelers spent all week fretting over -- unfamiliar elements such as running back Lorenzo Taliaferro, fullback Kyle Juszczyk, slot receiver Michael Campanaro, and tight end Crockett Gillmore being a partial list.

The Steelers have added significant fresh faces to the nastiness as well, but as this series endures as one of the best in the NFL, the most evident change is from one single subtraction from one single area that too often goes unnoticed..........
