Staff did a nice job working him in? First of all, he was thrown to the wolves (literally) in the third quarter of the first week against the Ravens and almost led a comeback. THere was no "working" him in. Maybe they gave him a limited number of reads and if Nate is talking about the mental aspect of the game, maybe Mettenberger has a better understanding 6-7 weeks into the season than a rookie thrown in three quarters in to a season. So there, maybe Washington is correct. But let's be honest, Ben had a pretty good record his first season...you can't pin all of that on an "outstanding running game." Ben engineered a couple comeback victories during the 2004 season...Cowboys, Giants...you can't discount that. Mettenberger probably has a better understanding of the game than Washington had at that time as well.

I think you're right, and while we're probably incapable of riling Ben up (what are the odds he even reads any of this?) other teams definitely do rile him up and he plays better as a result. Remember that broken nose anyone?

Ben couldn't find the end zone with a compass until we activated Bryant. It's obvious the receivers are elite, not the quarterback. Our receivers could make me look like a Pro Bowler. Trade Ben before the rest of the league wises up, and use the cap space for defensive backs.
