Adams on Ben: 'The guy was in a zone'

Steelers offensive linemen loved what they saw from quarterback Ben Roethlisberger on Sunday.The smile on Mike Adams (http://www.steelers.com/team/roster/mike-adams/baa7fbda-a15c-4908-99ea-22bf07f00565/) face said it all about what it was like for the offensive line during Sunday’s game against the Indianapolis Colts. Not only was quarterback Ben Roethlisberger (http://www.steelers.com/team/roster/ben-roethlisberger/54dda34e-9e43-4c57-9397-1143ddced5d6/) not sacked, but he became the first quarterback in NFL history to throw for 500 yards in a game twice in a career.

When the announcement came across the Heinz Field PA system of that accomplishment during the game, you could see from the offensive line’s reaction that they were pumped. ............

When Ben has a chip on his shoulder there is no better.


Guard David DeCastro said he saw an intensity in Roethlisberger on Sunday, something a little different than what he normally sees, beginning in pregame warm-ups.

Normally Roethlisberger goes from teammate to teammate during stretching, tapping them on the helmet, talking to them, and sharing words of encouragement.

But on Sunday he went about it silently, something out of the norm and DeCastro thinks some of it came from all of the attention and praise Colts quarterback Andrew Luck and their offense was receiving leading up to the game.

Every time Cortez allowed another long bomb Ben was shaking his head on the sideline and couldn't wait to get back out there. Makes me think of that Mean Joe Greene quote about him being in the zone that one time. This was definitely a special time for Ben.

Ben was just unbelievable from what I hear and saw on the sports shows today. I had to work so I didn't know what was going on until after 6pm. Damn, of all the games to miss !!
