Imagine this happening in any NFL city other than Pittsburgh.

Imagine this happening today with any of the 17 billionaires who now populate NFL owners boxes.

Imagine this happening 10 years from now with anyone who's part of an NFL owners group.

An NFL owner sits down — actually, he stands up for the entire presentation, and at age 82 — to talk with team fans and local historians. Not thousands of them, either, but, rather, about 100. He doesn't toss out corporate-speak words lifted from some earnings statement. He speaks like someone who's spent much of his life on the North Side — eluding security guards so he could play in closed-up parks as a youngster, going to Mass daily, slurping ice balls at Gus and YiaYia's.

Dan Rooney did exactly this a few nights ago as the Cranberry Public Library dedicated a new meeting room, and it was fascinating to watch............

I'm sure Goodell will pop the champagne behind closed doors in his office when Dan passes away. "Old guard" owners like the Rooneys are an affront to his "corporate vision" for the NFL.
