Sure, Evgeni Malkin’s teammates noticed the goal he scored.
It was pretty tough to overlook.
They saw how he set up Patric Hornqvist’s game-winning goal in the Penguins’ 3-1 victory against the New York Islanders Saturday night at Consol Energy Center just 55 seconds later, too.
But for all his offensive magic on this night – and there was plenty of it – it was a defensive play by Malkin that made the most enduring impression on the other guys in his locker room. Might have even prompted one or two to research the Russian pronunciation of “Selke.”.............
