Observed and heard in the locker room after the Pittsburgh Steelers (http://espn.go.com/nfl/team/_/name/pit/pittsburgh-steelers?ex_cid=null)' 17-9 win (http://scores.espn.go.com/nfl/recap?gameId=400554243) over the Jacksonville Jaguars.

He twice shook hands with Steelers chairman Dan Rooney and bumped fists with team president as he stood in front of his locker. If cornerback Brice McCain (http://espn.go.com/nfl/player/_/id/12690/brice-mccain?ex_cid=null), who signed with the Steelers last March and did not play in the first two games because of a groin injury, questioned his place on the team he doesn’t any more. McCain turned in the play of the game when he returned an interception 22 yards for a touchdown that stretched out a lead that had been whittled to one point. The cornerbacks played really well as a group as Cortez Allen (http://espn.go.com/nfl/player/_/id/14109/cortez-allen?ex_cid=null) had the Steelers’ other interception while McCain, Allen and William Gay (http://espn.go.com/nfl/player/_/id/10613/william-gay?ex_cid=null) combined for all six of the defense’s pass break ups. “Picks come in bunches so I hope this is the start of something big for the secondary, for our defense,” McCain said after the Steelers improved to 3-2. “That’s how the Steelers are supposed to play. You’re supposed to make plays all day and come down and hit people.”.........

Off the field and game is over, celebrate all you want. Although, not much to celebrate about squeaking out a 17-9 win over an 0-5 team. Especially with 7 points coming off an interception. Encouragement, yes, but still a long way to go.

They said McClain had 4 interceptions in practice during the week.

So he lit it up in practice and it carried over to the game...a la Brown.

Shocker.

I am troubled by how the owners really seem to meddle with the football operations stuff more and more each week. Just like Jerry Jones or Al Davis. We all know how that worked out!

???

From my understanding, the Rooneys have always been around the players, congratulating them, encouraging them, etc. I dont' see this as meddling in any way, shape, or form. Or was there something more in the article that I didn't read? (Not a sarcastic question, I didn't read the article).

I was trying to be a sarcastic smart-ass and point out how we all react and over-react differently to things based on the outcome of the game each week.

McCain needs to replace Allen...if hes showing it in practice then he needs to play

If McCain sticks as a starter...I think our strongest lineup would be to keep Allen on the other side and let Gay play the nickel slot.
