A W is a W but that wasn't exciting to watch, to say the least .........

Let's enjoy the win for a little bit. We still have a few issues:
Penalties. Gotta stop. And in the 4th quarter they did, but this is still an big problem.
Cushions. If you insist on playing these cushions, make sure your defenders are trained to defend the pass, instead of giving up a big YAC on a whiffed pick attempt. It's hard to rag on a D that gave up six points (really the other three were prevent-induced) but maybe tighten those cushions a tiny bit too.
Prevent. Stop it. Forever.
Stubbornness. Lance Moore can make things happen out there. I like JB, but Moore has to be wondering why we signed him for. Tuitt looked good in his limited opportunities. Again, limited. Troy - love ya but you're streaky in your old age. It's time for you to start sharing spot duty with Shamarko.
But most of all...
Offensive Tackles. Terrible and we've spent a stupid amount of money and draft picks to not have this at least halfway solved. Maybe next offseason Munchak gets more of a hand. People complain about some of the O-playcalling but some of it has to be intended to protect Ben. It's very rare for trades to happen during an NFL season but maybe it's time to look for a solution outside the organization?

Maybe I wasn't paying too close attention but I saw Ben have lots of time back there. He took one sack after holding it for like 8 seconds.
Shamarko has a hamstring injury. Not sure how bad, so you probably won't see him replacing anyone soon.

Honestly to me, this seemed like one of those games where you can't point fingers too hard at anyone. We just had few horrible missteps at horrible times. A few of those were totally on Ben, and him I'm not too worried about. There was a drive killing hands to the face penalty as well where we were just clicking before that. Like I said, just a bunch of little things. But I was encouraged by a couple of standard football defensive plays that we finally made (that other teams seem to make each week). Our DBs capitalized on bad decisions a couple times and came away with picks. Points even!
I didn't like the early Wheaton drop, but I'm not too worried about him either. I can not believe Lance Moore spiked a ball and took a penalty after a play. Not after last week. If you want to see how to get into Tomlin's doghouse, there you go.

I was listening on the radio at work and could tell they were playing prevent before the half. Why in the holy hot f*** does anyone still run that? Could have pressured the rook and maybe a mistake happens. This was a frustrating game because the O shoulda hung a fifty burger on the jags, but a win is a win is a win I suppose. At least the D showed up!

I didn't get to watch the game, but when you beat a team by one touchdown that other teams were beating by 20 and 30 points I would have to say it is nothing to get excited about. I think this team will be lucky to win 6 games.

The Steelers win and people are still not happy about it. Can't we all be happy they won no matter what the score was or if it was an exciting game or not? I mean, after last week's game, I'm happy they won.

Even with all of their problems, I highly doubt the Steelers close the season 3-8 or worse.

Thankfully the schedule gets tougher with the new never give up version of the Browns, the Texans, and the Colts, so maybe they will play better

I can't be too excited about the win. It's Jacksonville. It'd be like getting amped up over doing a load of laundry or brushing your teeth.

IMO, BR doesn't survey the field that quickly. He is more of a school yard QB than a classic pocket QB.

I think it's more a case of his not having much rapport with our current cast of receivers outside of Brown and Miller. You could see the Jaguars made a conscious effort to take Brown out of the game, and then of course Tomlin keeps Lance Moore out of the game because he made a foolish decision after his one and only catch. Anyway I think Ben sees the field as good or better than all but a handful of NFL qb's. But right now the trust between he and the receivers is a work in progress.

School yard qb's don't have 3rd down passer ratings of 111.7. This despite 4 third down drops by his receivers. Qb's who can't see the field don't have a 3rd down passer rating of 112 on 3rd down plays of 9 yards to go or longer.
Maybe Ben will be appreciated after he's gone? .

At the end of the day it's still a win and, right now that's all that matters. I still think this offense has alot of promise and, hopefully they will put it all together.

At the rate were going that's a big maybe. And what a damn shame too.
Although I will say this. Ben's lack of multi-TD games and residual number of comeback wins will continue to keep him from being consistently respected as one of the best QB's in the league. The guy has only thrown for 30+ TD's once and 4k three times.

If we had had just one more win last year, we would not have been watching the games all day on the last Sunday hoping the right teams win to make that wildcard spot. I'll celebrate every win we can get.

There's times he got ate up, but there's times he held on to the ball when he should have gotten rid of it. One play I counted four seconds before he was touched. I think the issue with Ben isn't that he's "just" a schoolyard QB, or not a pocket passer. Instead, I think that his schoolyard QB is his default setting—which is actually what I want in a QB. What we see is that when he makes his set of quick reads and nothing is there that's comfortable with, he shifts to default setting . . . and in that setting he reads and reads and reads, because he's dependent on his size, strength, and movement to give him time.
