Unless you're a quarterback, it's hard to get a read on the Steelers defense these days. What once was a relentlessly dominant outfit now is largely a mix of has-beens, not-yets and never-weres.
The presumption, in some quarters, is that this group can only improve as the season moves along.
Are we sure of that?
'Cause from where I'm standing, even when Ike Taylor, Ryan Shazier and Jarvis Jones return — and it's not like any of the three was Pro Bowl-bound — the competition will improve, too. Terrance West, Brian Hoyer, Louis Murphy and Mike Glennon will morph into Andrew Luck, Jamaal Charles, Drew Brees, A.J. Green and Matt Ryan...........
