James Harrison: It's 'good to be back' with the Steelers

James Harrison credits his family and three teammates for his return to the Steelers – Brett Keisel, Troy Polamalu and Ike Taylor.

He talked to all three into the wee hours of the morning after they returned from their 37-19 victory at the Carolina Panthers Sunday night and they convinced him to re-sign with the Steelers.

“If it weren’t for Keisel, Ike and Troy, I would not have signed back,’’ Harrison told the Post-Gazette today.

“I had to talk to my kids whether they wanted me back or not and talked to my parents. The big thing is the guys. I talked to Keisel until 4 or 5 in the morning.........

I'm glad he's back. Hope he makes an impact and goes back to his style of playing. I just don't think I can get that damn pic of him in bunghole gear out of my mind, and some of the respect I lost for him for signing with them. Sorry, I just don't think a true Black/Gold player would've signed. Just my opinion.

Nuthin' wrong with that, and you're not "wrong" for thinking that way.
But having said that... football is a business and the players understand that. If they can't play in black and gold they will play elsewhere... even if their heart's not in it because they've got to support their families. And when it's time to hang it all up, they come home to retire that last day because they know that they are Steelers for life.
That's the key to me; they go home regardless of where they were when they retired. This is his home and his family.

I have no problem with him getting his number back. He's done more for this team to earn it than McCullers has up to this point. I'm just not buying the narrative that he had to be talked into coming back when the only reason he retired in the first place is because nobody would sign him.
