File this in the department; For what it's worth. :wink02:

And remember you heard it here first, because I just now thought of it. :scratchchin:

Starting with the 1994 season, the first year Bill Cowher advanced the Steelers to the AFC Championship game, the Steelers have never gone more than 3 seasons between AFC title game appearances. Which means this year they're due! :high5:

Ok might just be trivial b.s. :bs: But then again....... ???? :crossed:

Anyway here's the years with conference championship game appearances bolded.

94, 95, 96, 97, 98, 99, 00, 01, 02, 03, 04, 05, 06, 07, 08, 09, 10, 11, 12, 13. (14?)

Since 1970, in every 5th year in a decade, and where the Super Bowl's second digit is "9", the Steelers at least reached the AFC Championship Game (only getting further once). Even the 1984 Steelers with Mark Malone made the doorstep to the Super Bowl.

Another Funny fact: Most of these teams were coming off mediocre years, considered outclassed, and not really expected to do anything. The 1973, 1983, 1993, and 2003 Steelers were substandard (The 1973 Steelers were one of the weaker 70's teams). The 2013 Steelers went 8-8. The 2003 Steelers were the last losing Steelers team to date, the 1993 Steelers went 9-7 and one and done.

1974: AFC Championship vs Raiders
1984: AFC Championship vs Dolphins
1994: AFC Championship vs Chargers
2004: AFC Championship vs Patriots
2014: ?

We'll see if these Steelers continue or at least buck the trend, but history is on their side for sure.

Also, with the exception of 1985, the Steelers returned to the AFC Championship Game the following year, won it, and reached the Super Bowl.

1975: Reached Super Bowl X
1985: Lol
1995: Reached Super Bowl XXX
2005: Reached Super Bowl XL
2015: ?

Yes and no. . .

I was pointing out a 2 year playoff run, one year miss, 2 year playoff run, one year miss trend that ran true for almost a decade and a half. That, however, was broken when the Steelers management tried to extend the SB window with the team of the late 2000's. So that's gone.

Unless, of course, we had an inversion, and we went Playoff, playoff, out, out, and now go playoff, playoff, and then start the next series Playoff, playoff...

No it's Jim Henson

Muppet Musicians 1972 - Immaculate Reception
Muppet Valentine 1974 - Super Bowl
Muppets Sex and Violence 1975 - Super Bowl
Muppet Movie 1979 - Super Bowl Champs
Muppets Take Manhattan 1984 - AFC Championship
Muppet Classic Theater 1994 - AFC Championship
Mr Willowby's Christmas Tree 1995 - Super Bowl
Muppets 2011 - 12-4 season, lost Teabow game. Admittedly a terrible Muppets movie.
Muppets Most Wanted 2014 - ?? We're back :D

Would love that to happen. Things look bleak in terms of making it to the AFC Championship game but you can say the same thing about 84. 9-7, Mark Malone was the QB and their divisional round game was against John Elway and the 13-3 Broncos, yet it happened
