His teammates and coaches call him Big Dan.

Linebackers coach Keith Butler, who played 10 seasons in Seattle in the 1980s, said he would come out of retirement if he could play behind him.
Buffalo Bills center Doug Legursky, a former Steelers player, went against him in a scrimmage on the first day of joint practice at Saint Vincent College in Latrobe this week and referred to him as the Jolly Green Giant.

But they also could affix another name to rookie defensive tackle Daniel McCullers.

Immovable.............

Would someone piss this guy off...pretty please????????????

McCullers, though, is like the Michael Oher character in the movie, “The Blind Side.” He towers over most of the other players, but he is quiet and, according to defensive line coach John Mitchell, very shy. The Steelers would like to see him play with more emotion and wonder what he would be like if he played angry.

Dwins had this guy on his draft list early on. I'm happy we have him. Thanks for the thread, Sue.

another guy I liked early in the draft process that we somehow manage to get as an UDFA is Mauro , for me he had 4th round talent and would have been pleased to get him anywhere after that point , I know Chidi doesn't care for him but I think he sticks and plays 10 years in the league

Exactly.

I prefer wasting later round offensive & defensive line picks on tough, hard working players like Beachum, Urbik, McClendon, etc.

Players with a blue collar work ethic tend to develop more over the long term imo.

Being 6' 8" @ 358# and *not fat* as an NFL player tells me this kid is a hard worker. It will be fun watching him play tonight and develop this season.

Here's some clips from last week.

While I am as excited to see him play and succeed as much as anyone else here...

Being "not fat" does not ALWAYS equate to "hard worker." :chuckle:

I hope his knees would be able to absorb punishment that he is going to receive from cut blocks. If he cant get low enough, his lower legs would be targeted cause as everyone says he is immovable. Im really rooting for this kid to succeed. If Steelers keep him and Mauro on their 53, some of the LBs would have to go. Practice squad isnt option for McCullers, somebody would claim him of waivers, so he has to make the 53 or we can say goodbye to this big fella.

I'm really cheering for Big Dan to make it but I just don't know if he's got the fire inside to be a professional football player. This isn't a game for nice guys, unless if you can turn it on and off like Troy and Troy is a rare breed.

Patriots would nab him right off the bat and hell turn into the next Vince wilfork.
