One issue that that has hindered Tannehill's immediate growth in the offense is the absence of his top playmaker, Mike Wallace, who has missed time with a hamstring injury. According to The Herald, the tandem's chemistry on the deep ball -- which they struggled with last season, going 6 for 36 on 20-plus-yard balls -- continues to be an issue.

Wallace blamed the hamstring for part of that nagging chemistry problem.

"A little bit on the deep ball because I can't go as fast as I want to go, but I think we'll be all right," he said. "I know the media has been saying that for a while, but he's getting better with the deep ball. It was a problem overall with everybody not just me last year. Coach Lazor is doing a good job staying on him."

The Dolphins need the Tannehill-Wallace combo to be a hit, otherwise the return on investment of both players will always be marginal.

He was a product of the system like Joe Flacco.

Funny what happens when you go from a future Hall of Fame QB to a guy who will be a backup when his rookie contract with the Dolphins is up.

Wallace sure takes the top off opposing defenses. Maybe, just maybe, the league has figured him out?

Naw, can't be. The QB sucks.

I think it's a combo of both.

The league knows that Wallace is running either a go or a post route. That's basically all the guy runs. Jam his ass at the LOS and disrupt him, he won't be where he's supposed to be and it'll be an incomplete pass. Also, hit him a few times and he'll get alligator arms.

It doesn't help matters that his QB should have never gone in the first round to begin with. Tannenhill isn't a good QB, and that doesn't help a receiver that can't do more than run past guys. If he was still in Pittsburgh, he'd be a 1200+ yard receiver catching 9+ touchdowns because he'd have Roethlisberger throwing him the ball, not to mention AB helping to take some coverage away.

I am so glad we locked up Antonio Brown. Brown is a real receiver. Wallace is no more than what Tomlin's nickname was for him, "one trick."

Since the midseason in 2011, Wallace has been very average....I can not believe the dolphins gave 30 million guaranteed to Wallace

They guaranteed him more than Dan Marino.
