Pirates (http://www.cbssports.com/mlb/teams/page/PIT/pittsburgh-pirates) star Andrew McCutchen (http://www.cbssports.com/mlb/players/playerpage/1103290/andrew-mccutchen) was forced to leave Sunday's game with what at the time was believed to be a muscle issue -- possibly his oblique. As it turns out, though, the Pirates released a statement Tuesday saying that McCutchen actually has "an avulsion fracture involving the costochondral cartilage of the left 11th rib."..........

Team is saying it's unrelated to the plunking. I'm not sure I believe that, but regardless, he is obviously a huge, huge loss for the Pirates in the middle of a playoff chase.

I was very upset by the plunking by Delgado, and I do think Cutch's current injury is a direct result of it. With that said, I am very happy it's not an oblique sprain, which is a far worse injury than Cutch is now experiencing.

Thoughts and prayers to Cutch for a speedy recovery.
